William Wakefield (b. 1676 probably at Biddlefore, Me., d. drowned October 25, 1707) and Rebecca Littlefield of Salem (b. May 9, 1708, Wells, Maine, d. ?) lived in Massachusetts. They were married March 13, 1698 in Salem, Mass. Children were William, Joseph, Jonathan, and Benjamin.
Bourne's History of Wells and Kennebunk says: James Wakefield, with his brother William, Moses and Job Littlefield, and Joseph Storer, Jr., on October 25, 1707, "went out in a small sloop to fish, there was a heavy sea at the [Wells] bar, and as they attempted to drive the sloop over it, she was upset and all were drowned, bodies of four were recovered. These men were all valuable citizens and their aid was greatly needed."
William and his wife Rebecca were first cousins. They were married on March 13, 1697/98 in Salem, Massachusetts. After William's death, she married Lt. William King of Sutton, MA on July 19, 1717.
